Base64 in HTML <source>

<source> lets the browser pick the first format it supports. Each source can be a data URI.

Example

<audio controls>
  <source src="data:audio/ogg;base64,T2dnUwACAAAAAAAAAAA..." type="audio/ogg" />
  <source src="data:audio/mpeg;base64,SUQzBAAAAAAAI1RT..." type="audio/mpeg" />
</audio>

Notes

  • Always include the type attribute so the browser can skip unsupported formats without decoding them.
