Base64 in HTML <iframe>

An <iframe> can render an entire HTML page encoded as a data URI, which is handy for previews and sandboxes.

Example

<iframe sandbox title="Preview"
        src="data:text/html;base64,PGgxPkhlbGxvITwvaDE+"></iframe>

Notes

  • Data URI iframes get a unique opaque origin, so they cannot access the parent page.
  • Add sandbox to restrict scripts in untrusted content.
