Data you convert

Text and files that you encode or decode are processed locally in your web browser and are not sent to our servers. The only exceptions are features that by nature need a server: loading a file from a URL (when the remote server blocks direct browser access), the HTTP request tool, the gzip test and encoding to a few multi-byte character sets. In those cases the data is relayed in memory and is not stored or logged.

Comments and contact messages

When you post a comment or send a message we store your name, message, optional rating and optional e-mail address. E-mail addresses are never published and are used only to notify you about replies (if you asked for it) or to answer your message. We store a salted, irreversible hash of your IP address to prevent spam and abuse; we do not store the IP address itself. You can ask us to delete your comment at any time via the contact page.

Cookies and advertising

This website is free because it shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which tools are useful, using aggregated and anonymised statistics. We do not use this data to identify you.

Infrastructure

The website is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as IP address and user agent) to protect the site from attacks and deliver it quickly.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA) you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you. Contact us through the contact page and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
